Using evidence-based nutritional science, our Diploma in Applied Nutrition and Nutrition Coaching Course provide students with the knowledge and tools to make food choices and develop recipes based around health. It is the place to discover and learn the power of nutritional science and evidence-based eating for better health.

The school began as The School of Culinary Medicine in 2015 when we identified a demand for a course which would enable those interested in nutrition to study at a more detailed level for their own interest without committing to a full time degree or just a quick beginners certificate - enter our first course, Sano Diploma in Applied Nutrition.

Since then, we have empowered hundreds of students to take control of their health, transform their relationship with food and their bodies, and guide and inspire others to do the same.

Our aim with Sano is to provide people with the skills to use food and nutrition for medicinal health benefits for their personal benefit and to help others to do the same. And we have lofty goals to spread that message - that food really is medicine - even further, to make basic nutrition knowledge commonplace internationally to empower everyone to take back control of their own health so that we can collectively rediscover the true benefits of a healthy body and mind.

The Sano Founders

Heather Richards -Director of Nutrition

Heather is an award winning Registered Nutritionist mBANT and Naturopath as well as a Chartered Accountant. She studied at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London where she was presented with the award for 'Overall Academic & Clinic Results in Nutrition’. Besides her role as Director of Nutrition at Sano she runs a busy clinic with a client base from London and the Home Counties providing; personalised nutritional and lifestyle advice, webinars, seminars, menu planning as well as cookery demonstrations.

In her role as Director of Nutrition Heather is supported by an Education Team of expert Nutritionists and Student Support Co-ordinators.

Doug Richards -CEO

Doug has over 25 years of experience gained in the corporate world and before co-founding Sano, he worked as CFO at NewDay plc, CEO at CMC Markets, Group COO and Group Finance Director at AWD Holdings and Divisional Board Director at Centrica for 11 years. Doug has established several successful and high profile new businesses including Goldfish Bank. Originally he started his career in investment banking after qualifying with PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Chartered Accountant and Corporate Treasurer.
